This month we present two solo shows:

SURFACE AND FOLD by MATTHEW HAGGETT
Matthew Haggett, a Portland multi-media artist known for his process paintings has returned to the use of a brush. While he still employs mathematics and computer generated stencils, these works are preconceived rather than determined by process. The monochromatic and very intensely-colored nature of these works provides an additionally unexpected twist to these exciting new explorations.

Born French-Canadian, Portland sculptor Gilles Foisy works in the place where concept, ritual, and sensuality commingle. This show, his second solo with Butters Gallery, focuses on the funnel for its metaphoric and visual qualities.

		MATTHEW HAGGETT A young Portlander, Haggett produces very sophisticated pattern paintings with an acrylic/stencil process. These works exhibit a sense of constant moving chaos within the confines of the traditional western painting grid.
		GILLES FOISY Portland resident Foisy is a conceptual artist. Each and every work is steeped in philosophical thought. At the same time his sculptures are wonderfully visual and tactile--making their ability to communicate more widespread.
