PERSISTENCE: BOTANICA
Apr 06, 2000 - Apr 29, 2000
A group exhibition of a beautifully broad set of examples of work that, directly or indirectly are of plants or plant life.
GABE BROWN   GABE BROWN
One of our younger artists, Brown's oil paintings and watercolor works have been exhibited in New York and San Francisco. Nature-based images interact with cultural images to form a mysterious narrative.

ANNETTE DAVIDEK   ANNETTE DAVIDEK
New Yorker Annette Davidek's paintings layer silhouettes of organic life forms onto panels with thin layers of oil pigment. The veilings of color produce a dramatic field of depth, while the floating compositions keep the pieces light.

BRENDA BARNUM   BRENDA BARNUM
Chicagoan Brenda Barnum's distinctive still life paintings are inspired directly from her garden, but then imaginatively created with a sense of life-like animation. She works with thickly built up oil paint on canvas and paper.

GILLES FOISY   GILLES FOISY
Portland resident Foisy is a conceptual artist. Each and every work is steeped in philosophical thought. At the same time his sculptures are wonderfully visual and tactile--making their ability to communicate more widespread.
