|Jim has lived and worked as a studio potter in Boulder since 1975. He has taught workshops across the United States, including in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, California, Maryland, and Tennessee, as well as Alberta, Canada. Early in his career, Jim spent two years as Director of Ceramics at the Evanston Art Center near Chicago, Illinois (1971–1973) and taught ceramics for one semester at The Chicago Art Institute. In 1973 he returned to Boulder as an Instructor of Ceramics at the University of Colorado where he taught until opening his own pottery studio in 1975. In 1988, Jim returned to the classroom as Professor of Art at Front Range Community College where he built a significant ceramics program.
Jim’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Topeka, Kansas; the Vance Kirkland Museum, Denver, Colorado; the ASU Art Museum, Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona; and the Collection of Katsunari Touoda, National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan. He holds a Master in Fine Arts from the University of Colorado.
